As part of its commitment to energy efficiency, Colorado State University wanted to minimize the cost of providing energy to its campus while also decreasing harmful emissions generated by conventional electricity. The university partnered with Fotowatio Renewable Ventures and selected Trina Solar modules to create one of the largest college solar systems for its Foothills Campus.

The 30-acre, 5.3MW solar power plant generates more than 8.5 million kW hours of clean energy each year and powers one-third of the Foothills Campus. The plant's 23,000 solar panels reduce greenhouse gas emissions by more than 6 million kilograms each year. The facility also supplies solar electricity to Xcel Energy, Colorado's largest utility. FRV partnered with Trina Solar because the proven performance of Trina modules would produce energy at or above expected levels, making for a sound long term investment.
